* Describe your first student teaching context (school setting). What school are you at, what are some of its characteristics, and what classes are you teaching, and how are classes scheduled at your school?
I am teaching at the Slater Middle School in Pawtucket. It is in an urban setting where all students walk to school. The school is 88 years old and is in need of updating. However it's principal was just awarded principal of the year award for middle school principals in R.I. There is an experienced and team oriented group of teachers that teach there. Classes are 55 minutes long and meet every day. I am teaching 8th grade general science during the first three classes and last class of the day.
* Explain one of your "stealth" objectives that you want to accomplish with your students and why.
I was very happy to discover that my CT and I share a similar stealth objective. Mine is to teach the students to Stop and Think before acting in response to a stimuli in the form of question or action of others. My CT has informed me that in addition to learning science, he wishes his students to learn to control themselves and begin to acquire behaviors that will develop their level of maturity. He agreed that self control and the ability to stop and think were one in the same.
